@Alan Minor: Annotated Storyboard

I have split each metaphor into sections as this will help when trying to condense/ fit my animation together. I have also annotated onto the storyboard what is happening in each metaphor to hopefully make it clearer and I have also annotated where I think maybe things could be changed or cut.

  1. Hi Emily. Okay, I think we need to discuss/refine these sequence by sequence to see what we can do. Then look at them as whole again once we're done with them all (as we discussed / in relation to the new pre-viz camera move). We chatted about the opening and that seems to work now, so now we're onto the next sequence (13-18). At the moment this shot seems like it needs something else (animation) and a bit of analysis in relation to dialogue/timing. Firstly, can you re-post the sequence (its own post) with the dialogue underneath and then highlight the words you think actions should happen on. For example. 'web of nervousness' might be the moment of change or the moment when the change has happened visually. The next thing is to look at the 'dynamic/abstract' possibilities. Is the room spinning around the only option for example? What do you mean by 'web'? Does it have to a literal 'cob/spider web'? Could the whole room (walls and all be bound up - like wool/string/web wrapping around a box).

    In your dialogue you say 'web of nervousness' - is that really a spiders web or is it a web you made? You could base your web around an actual 'web of nerves' - biologically speaking. Linking all of the furniture/walls together as a 'nervous system' (image below - where the neurons are the furniture). This doesn't need to be anatomically accurate, more an abstraction. A sort of blending between a spiders web and a nervous system (with a bit of Mission Impossible style lasers thrown in - because you found it hard to navigate the room etc). Give it some thought and then we'll refine animation more Then we'll move onto the next sequence and so on. Some shots won't need this much rethinking but I think this one is in need to a bit clever visual design to fully exploit your dialogue.

  2. Note - The Dictionary definition of 'web' is "a complex system of interconnected elements."
