Infographics: Characters Running Animation
Firstly, I finished skinning and rigging my character ready for animating, by adding more edge loops to the torso and improving the skinning so that the bend in the spine could be smoother.
I then rigged the character. I started by creating IKs for the legs and feets. I then grouped these IKs as these groups are what you use to animate. There is one overall group for each leg that you use to control it, and then two separate groups for each foot that control the toe and heel. There is also a global group that you use to control the character as a whole. And then in order to animate the spine, arms and neck you can just rotate the actual joints and key those.
After this my character was ready to be animated and so I posed out the character for a running sequence.
I then used the global control to make it move across the screen and used the graph editor to cycle the running poses. I then imported a second character, and used the graph editor to move the key frames so that the two characters weren't running in unison.I then rendered out multiple versions of the character running across the screen, with different variations of how close they were running to each other etc. Also once bought into after effects I will alter the speed etc. of the runs so that they differ.
