Fantastic Voyage- Maya tests

I did some tests in Maya so I could start to work out how I am going to model the different parts in my animation.

Firstly I tried out multiple different methods of how I could model the pollen grain:


Here is the a description of how each one was modelled:
1. 14 subdivisions, extruded vertices, extrude with Width= 1, triangulate
2. 20 subdivisions, extruded vertices,  triangulate
3. 15 subdivisions, extruded vertices, triangulate
4. 12 subdivisions, extruded vertices (less than the others), triangulate
5. 14 subdivisions, triangulate before extrusion, extruded vertices

Then I also tested out how I could make a petal:


I started off with a plane and scaled the vertices widthways to create the basic shape. Then I triangulated it, hardened the edges and extruded the plane slightly so that it was a bit thicker. Then I used the non linear deformer bend three times- once to bend it to the right, once to bend the top half backwards a bit and then to bend the sides in a bit to make it a more rounded shape.
