What If Metropolis - Further Ideas and Research

I created a mind map of possible ideas for the city including: the geographical location, the different buildings in the city, the transport and the inhabitants.

Firstly, I had the idea of having a religion in the city centred around the sun, moon and stars/constellations as these things are incorporated into quite a lot of Miró's work. And then I thought about what the religious building would look like and I thought I could incorporate Miró's work with murals and ceramic walls into the building. Also I thought about how when the sun sets it could be a spiritual time for the inhabitants, when they all gather together, as it is when the sun, moon and stars come together.

I then thought about what other important buildings or spaces you could find in the city, and I thought about includings some farmland or farms into the city as one of Miró's most famous paintings is entitled 'The Farm', and also farmland and/or animals are also seen quite a lot of Miró's work.

Then when I thought about the houses I thought they could incorporate the themes of Miró's work such as geometric, angular, abstract shapes and bright colours.

I also thought that the city could reflect Miró's personality in the sense that it could be quite a small contained city where the inhabitants lead quite simple lives and the city is somewhat underpopulated.

Finally, I think I have decided to base the geographical location of the city on Catalonia, as it was a very important place for Miró that held a lot of meaning and memories for him.
