Invisible Cities - Reflective Statement

Having completed my first project - 'Invisible Cities', I am happy with what I have produced during these first 5 weeks. I'm proud of how far I've come in terms of digital painting because I had no proper previous experience and so I am pleased that I was able to take what I have learned in these last 5 weeks and use the knowledge to produce my final paintings. I have learned a lot about concept art in this project that I will be able to take forward into future projects, and also I will hopefully be able to build on my knowledge a lot more as well.
At the start of the Invisible Cities project and had no idea how I would create my final paintings or what they would look like, so it has been very interesting for me to go through the stages of designing and producing my concept paintings as I couldn't have imagined that my final paintings would have looked as they do.
In future projects some things that I think that I could improve on include; asking for more feedback, primarily on my blog, as during this project I didn't really take advantage of being able to upload half-finished work and requesting feedback in order to develop my work further- in ways that I may not have thought of myself. Also I think I will need to work on how I approach the thumbnail stage of any future projects, as in this project I didn't think 'outside of the box' when designing the cities in my thumbnails, which I think was partly down to the fact that I needed to find some more reference images to help me design specific parts of the cities as sometimes I find coming up with ideas quite challenging and partly because I was worrying too much about what they looked like.
Finally, I think I was able to manage my time quite efficiently, as I was able to keep on top of the work that I had to do and also I didn't have a big rush to finish before deadline day, although I think that in future projects I need to do the initial thumbnail stage sooner or quicker, so then I can move on to developing my ideas.
