Animation 02: Timing and Spacing

In today's animation lesson we learnt about the concept of timing and spacing in animation. We completed a range of tasks which taught us various things about the subject.

Coin

1. Coin: For this task you had to make the top red coin evenly spread out along the axis.

         2. Coin: For this task you had to make the bottom purple coin ease in and out along the axis by                         changing the spacing of the frames.

When comparing these two coins moving along their axis' you can see the difference in how they move even though they start and end at the same points, because the spacing of the frames are different.

Pendulum

3. Pendulum: The purpose of this task was so we could understand that in order to make it look like                          a pendulum the ball couldn't travel in a straight line, it has to follow a curve.

4. Pendulum: For this task you had to make the ball move in an arc with the frames evenly spaced                            apart. This demonstrated that the frames needed to be spaced differently so that the ball                        moves at different speeds along the arc to make it look like a pendulum.

5. Pendulum: For this task you had to make the final pendulum so that it moved on the arc and                             eased in and out along the arc, to make it look like how an actual pendulum would swing.
